Enabling and Managing Multiple Login Methods using the Power-Up

1. Overview: Introducing the Login Methods Power-Up

We are excited to announce the new Login Methods Power-Up, designed to give your organization complete control over how users authenticate. This feature allows you to manage and offer multiple supported login methods, enhancing security and providing a more convenient, friction-free experience for your users during onboarding and subsequent logins.

What Has Changed

Previously, login methods might have been limited or configured individually. With the Power-Up, all authentication options are centrally managed within your Organization Settings, making configuration seamless and scalable.

2. How to Enable the Login Methods Power-Up

The Login Methods feature is deployed as a Power-Up on the Growth Plan and is automatically included in the Business Plan. Follow these steps to activate it for your Growth organization:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard: Log into your account and proceed to the main Dashboard area.

  2. Access Organization Settings: Click on your profile or organization name and select Organization Settings from the dropdown menu.

  3. Go to Billing: Within the Organization Settings interface, select the Billing tab.

  4. Open Power-Ups: Locate and click on the Power-Ups section.

  5. Activate Login Methods: Scroll down to find the Login Methods Power-Up. Click the toggle or button to enable and configure the add-on.

  6. (Optional) Configure Methods: Once enabled, the system will prompt you to configure the specific login methods you wish to offer (e.g., Google OAuth, SAML/SSO providers, etc.). This configuration will typically require inputting provider credentials (Client IDs, Secrets, etc.).

Best Practices for Configuration

  • Test Thoroughly: After configuring a new login method, test the end-to-end login flow using a test account before releasing the option to your entire user base.

  • Communicate Changes: If you are adding or deprecating a login method, inform your users beforehand to ensure a smooth transition.

3. Key Benefits of Offering Multiple Login Options

Implementing the Login Methods Power-Up brings several immediate advantages to both your organization and your end-users:

  • Enhanced User Convenience: Users can choose their preferred authentication method (e.g., their existing Google or Microsoft account), eliminating the need to manage yet another unique password.

  • Smoother Onboarding: Reduced authentication friction leads to faster sign-ups and improved completion rates for new users.

  • Enterprise Readiness: The ability to integrate secure methods like SAML/SSO helps meet the demanding compliance and security needs of larger enterprise customers.

  • Centralized Management: All authentication configurations are consolidated in one easy-to-manage location within Organization Settings.

4. Common Questions Regarding Login Methods

Q1: Which plans include the Login Methods feature?

A: The feature is available as a dedicated Power-Up for organizations on the Growth Plan. Organizations subscribed to the Business Plan have this functionality included automatically without needing to activate a Power-Up.

Q2: If I enable the Power-Up, are login methods instantly available to users?

A: No. Enabling the Power-Up grants you access to the configuration panel. You must actively configure and save the settings for each specific login method (e.g., entering API keys for an OAuth provider) before they become visible and usable by your users.

Q3: Where do I manage the configuration after enabling the Power-Up?

A: Once enabled via the Power-Up section, the configuration interface for specific methods will appear within your Organization Settings, usually under a new 'Authentication' or 'Login Methods' submenu.

Note on Availability: This Power-Up requires the Growth Plan. Users on the Business Plan already benefit from this feature being included in their subscription package.
