Understanding featureOS Integration with Jira Product Discovery

featureOS allows you to integrate with Jira for creating issues and setting sync rules, but it's important to understand that there are specific limitations when it comes to the "Product Discovery" project type in Jira.

Limitations

  • Jira currently does not support external applications within the glance panel for the "Product Discovery" project type. This means that you won't have the same integration capabilities in this project type as you do for other project types in Jira

  • We reached out to Atlassian Support, and unfortunately, they don't have a specific timeframe for when they will add support for integration and third-party applications in the "Product Discovery" project type.

  • You can read more about this on their community page here

How does this impact your workflow?

1. Pushing issue from featureOS to Jira Product Discovery

This workflow is not impacted by the limitations. You can easily create a Jira issue from featureOS using the "Create In Jira" option available on individual post pages.

2. Pushing issue from Jira Product Discovery to featureOS

You have two push options, Manual Push and Automatic Push.

- Automatic Push

This option immediately creates a post in featureOS when an idea is created in the Jira Project.

However, please note that the glance panel in Jira does not support external applications for the "Product Discovery" project type, and the link to the featureOS post won't be visible due to this limitation.

- Manual Push

Because of the glance panel limitation, you won't find the option to manually push issues from Jira to featureOS, as you would for other project types in Jira.
